Quickpost: The Final decision for Fellay, will he bring doom to the SSPX, or will he Aid us in Renewing the Institutional Church and in the Latin Mass Efforts Worldwide?

Well gang, here it is. From the Vatican Insider, news that this IS the final showdown, the final offer, the last effort to reunite the SSPX under our Holy Father, Benedict XVI:

http://vaticaninsider.lastampa.it/en/homepage/the-vatican/detail/articolo/lefebvriani-lefebvrians-lefebvrianos-16222/

The extra time allotted to the Ultimate Vatican Obliterati Sattelite Cannon is down to 5 ... 4.... 3...... will they launch the abort codes and help the Church they supposedly give allegiance to and acknowledge, or will Fellay be stubborn and full of pride and pull another 1988, possible excommunicating the WHOLE SSPX? I hope not. Please everyone, pray to St. Michael to ward off the Devil's slings and arrows of the Anger, and most importantly Pride of the SSPX so that Fellay can make this most crucial and important of decisions unbiased and in the true purview of the Theological and Cardinal virtues.

St. Michael the Archangel ... ora nobis!!!!!!!!

Vatican Starts to Catch up with the Times and Seeks to Control an Internet Domain but Ignores the Youth/Bloggers

Hello Everyone.

So after the SSPX quickpost, I just caught a whiff of this, initially thanks to The Deacon's Bench at Patheos, but the original source is CNA (Catholic News Agency):

http://www.catholicnews.com/data/stories/cns/1202470.htm

In summary of the article, The Pope has placed a bit to get the domain name (e.g. like .com, .gov, .org) "dot Catholic." Head of the Pontifical Council for Social Communications, Msgr. Tighe, quotes this in the article as to why the Vatican is taking this cool new step:

"Controlling the top-level domain "will be a way to authenticate the Catholic presence online," Msgr. Tighe said. The Vatican plans to allow "institutions and communities that have canonical recognition" to use the extension, "so people online -- Catholics and non-Catholics -- will know a site is authentically Catholic."

This I must say is  a very important step for the Vatican. Sadly, the majority of "Official" media for the Catholic Church, is still print publications like newspapers and such in dioceses. While the Vatican's website has been a great start, lately the biggest monster to hit the social communications atmosphere in the Church, is the work of websites, especially bloggers (including yours truly). Whether they be a little young (but old) soul like me writing anonymously, or a more powerful entity in the Catholic Blogosphere, like e.g. Rocco Palmo the "Church Whisperer" or Fr. Zuhlsdorf for the Traditional Catholic side of things, we collectively are having a powerful influence on the Faith.

Considering that this year is dubbed "the New Evangelization" and the next Bishop's Synod is devoted to it, plus web-based media is the thing now in terms of social communication, it is a great joy to see the Vatican under Benedict XVI taking an active role in doing so. 75 year mandatory updates isn't going to cut it anymore in our technologically fast-paced world that has a new Iphone every 1-2 years.

Further, speaking on behalf of my generation that are fatihful practising Catholics that actually care about our faith, the 3rd post Vatican II (and it's havoc that the "Spirit" of the council unleashed into the world), we have learnt (and/or are starting to learn) the True Catholic Faith and teachings. We've mostly encountered this not thanks to our watered-down school systems and our print media and our clergy (of whom the majority are infected with the "Spirit of Vatican II" that hold major positions of power, not the new young bucks of the JPII and B16 generations of seminarians) but rather we were smart enough to bypass them and get the majority of that truth from websites and blogs. Some prominent examples include: www.vatican.va/ containing all the documents of Vatican II, The Catechism of the Catholic Church, other writings of prior popes and the Roman Curia, etc.; www.catholic.com/ the world's largest online apologetics organization, and other YouTube channels for various dioceses (content variable in orthodoxy) or independent efforts like Fr. Barron's Word on Fire ministry. I am not alone in this journey or my means of coming back to my faith. My fellow Canadian blogger, Optimusmastro, also shared this *sentiment with regard to another issue in his diocese, but it pertains here, with my emphasis in bold:

".... We moved beyond VCR's to Tevo, beyond analog to digital, ...Its just the next logical step... From a personal standpoint, it was throught the online community that most of my generation who practice their Faith were introduced to actually learning it.  At times, the diocesan newspaper was nothing more than a mouthpiece for the 'spirit of VII' poltergeist promoting syrupy stories, a leftist agenda and absolutely no call to action.  As that little old lady from the commercials in the 80s used to say,..'Where's the beef?!?'  Sooo, the JPII generation when we wanted to be fed, by passed the out of date models and headed straight for the Vatican website, straight for Catholic Answers, EWTN, and recently Real Catholic TV...The internet and social media is now producing a generation of fervent believers, ready to defend the Church and ALL Her teachings!

Posting: http://prime1-marco.blogspot.ca/2012/06/social-media-divide.html?utm_source=feedburner&utm_medium=feed&utm_campaign=Feed:+ConfessionsOfAThirtySomethingCybertronian+(Confessions+of+a+Thirty+Something+Cybertronian)

So as a blogger myself, I am glad to see the Vatican taking a crucial step in this matter. This will especially help when it comes to the "wired" youth of my generation and the Millenials somewhat below me. Also, I do generally approve the concept of a regularized front of web sources monitored by a central governing/certifying body, because in our credential-sick world, nothing impresses people (and sadly on both sides of the spectrum including liberal "c"atholics) more than getting the Vatican's seal of approval to say "my stuff is valid and should be listened too."

HOWEVER, I have two MAJOR sticking points where I feel the Vaitcan is being stupid about this. These are BIG howevers.

1. Who will play the role of "Big Brother?"
I am concerned for the majority of the Catholic web, more on the context of the old saying "who is watching the watchers?" See it's all good and well to have this official organization so to speak and bring governance to the Catholic web to reign in those nutjobs that make the faith look bad. However, as many of us who do traverse the Catholic web and blogosphere know, not all is well in the Vatican, and there is much politics and power playing a foot. Most of the current prelates .... do not seem to be on the side of the Holy Father. They are still sick with the "spirit of V-II". Slowly B16 is trying to bring back order to the hierarchy of the Church with prudent and wise elections of new prelates and bishops, but this is not always the case, and it is likely that he will die before the entirety of his generation does. And who knows who will take over? (I'm currently hoping and praying for Collins despite my last couple of postings, cause I still want Canada on the Catholic map lol!)

Also, I don't know whether Tishe's leans pro-Benedict and pro-Tradition or if he's a spirit of Vatican II-er in disguise. Thus I ask, will be the central head of this domain? What will he do? I would feel more confident if the Holy Father or those known to be his allies were governing this. Why? Because what if one of those "liberals" becomes elected under Benedict's rule, while poor B16 is weak and tired and slowly declining in health and mental acuity. Everyone comes flodding in to be a part of the elite club of .catholic sites. However, say optimusmastro and I band together and form a hypothetical "young adult" online apostolate under their guidelines and is approved by his bishop in his Quebec diocese. Well, we're pro EF and we speak our minds. Mr. V-II spirit master and his horde of elected "yes men/women" decide we are not "fit" for the mandate of the .catholic club. But he lets in sister-reiki-pantsuit's religious order site and Fr.AverageNiceGuy's website for the diocese of AverageCatholic and on those sites, there is no Catechism references and the usual reflections with "jesus loves everyone" secular humanism garbage or more New Age garbage, of which is indicated in Vatican writings and the Catechism not in conformity with the Magisterial teachings of the Church. Thus, under the main body of authority in the institutional Church in the Vatican, once again, as usual, true faithful Catholic dioceses and organizations will be discriminated against through another form of social media so that like the pigs in Aminal Farm state "all animals are equal, but some animals are more equal than others." And seeing as religious orders are part of it, what happens when the SSPX become canonized? Their stuff is already contested and somewhat anti-Novus Ordo Church on some of their regional websites. Even if they clean everything up post-canonization, will Tishe or whomever is "big brother" reject them, despite Ecclesia Dei or the Holy Father's canonical OK?

So this is my first worry.

2. THE BLOODY BLOGGERS ARE BEING IGNORED!!!!!
My gosh, really Vatican? Why are you being so inept with this effort? Considering you just had a "blogmeet" to try and see the effect we Catholic Bloggers have on the internet and how to incorporate us (due to our major driving force amongst the Catholic laity, at least electronically), Why are you imposing this bloody restriction!!!!!!:

"The Vatican does not plan to allow individual bloggers or private Catholics to use ".catholic," Msgr. Tighe said. Use of the domain would be limited to those with a formal canonical recognition: dioceses, parishes and other territorial church jurisdictions; religious orders and other canonically recognized communities; and Catholic institutions such as universities, schools and hospitals."

http://www.catholicnews.com/data/stories/cns/1202470.htm

This has got to be one of the stupidest moves they've made with regard to tackling the Blogosphere. Why? First, not all institutions that are "Catholic" act like their Catholic. Most Catholic institutions, be it a hospital or school, has rejected Catholic teachings and even official Vatican documents or binding principles (e.g. most Catholic schools do not abide by "The Mandatum", Catholic hospitals have abortions on site and likely even Catholic doctors perform them). So you guys are only going to further "OK" dissent against your own institution and the True One Holy Catholic and Apostolic Church? What hypocrisy!  For crying out loud the CDF just had to BAN a textbook being promoted by a dissenting "religious" sister that WAS being used in classrooms in school (E.g. http://catholicnerdwriter.blogspot.ca/2012/06/from-someone-who-actually-read-book.html) and you want to give them OFFICIAL APPROVAL!!! Second, we bloggers are a crucial force to be reckoned with. We are likely to me more faithful to the Church's teachings, support the Holy Father in his efforts, and anything you want the Church to do, but fails at institutionally. Yes, we tend to not filter ourselves at times, but think of this way: Why should we be punished for obedience to the Church's teachings, and disobedience rewarded? This clearly makes no sense when you look at parents that have done so in their rearing of their children. By rewarding their children's selfish behaviour, they become self-serving individuals who place themselves either in financial or physical harms way after being brought up like that and pass it on to other people. So why are you excluding us from this golden opportunity? Third, the average Catholic or secular youth do not mostly give a rat's behind when it comes to dioceses, parishes, institutions and religious organizations. They will not be turned on by the faith when they view "St. regular's Catholic Church" and all the "services" we offer (unless there's a tempting offer to gain mandatory community service hours to graduate high school/Confirmation). Maybe they might clue into the youth ministry, but that's about it. Most youth and adults the New Evangelization seeks to reach don't even come to Mass post-Confirmation (at 13 years old), heck forget that, don't even come at all except for major Sacraments. So why would they be impressed by a website for their parishes. These people, even if they did come, don't even participate in parishes. And also, take a cursory look at most parishes' websites. How many of them are promoting Catechism teachings? Their dioceses' pastoral letters (certainly my dioceses' parishes arent!)? Sprirtual reflections that aren't "general fluff" or, dare I say, urgent action when our civil and religious liberties are threatened or a Q&A on a major moral/ethical issue?

When you put the above, and our watered-down to non-existent "catholic" education in schools," all into perspective, It's the bloggers (in addition to major apologetics websites) that are doing the gruntwork in trying to teach youth and others the answers to their faith that have been solely lacking from the regular forms of education/Catholic social media. Leaving us out is a big mistake, unless the Vatican is following up separately on that conference from last year around this time.

Final Thoughts

Overall, I'm happy that the Vatican is taking this crucial step to "get in with the times" when it comes to social media and communications. Think about it, when the printing press grew mainstream, books and print became huge and was everyone's source of main media. If people didn't adapt, they weren't listened to. Most people these days have their own smartphone/Iphone and are scanning the internet and web like no tomorrow. I've even witnessed children in elementary school having their own "Crack"berrys. If the Vatican doesn't get in the game, as well as dioceses, they will lose out on a crucial way to spread the Gospel and the True faith to many. And if they don't pick up on it, Satan and those who unwillingly/willingly do his work will.

However, keeping this to just major bodies and institutions is a crucial mistake on the Vatican's part. Our major institutional bodies are sick and ill with heterodoxy, and many of them will not be True to the Church's teachings, or are so ill equipped to even perform that role. Further, who will be letting people in and kicking people/organizations out? Who will investigate each organization's institution? Worse, because they may not listen to "those bloggers," they are often times missing out crucial information on the institution/organization's anti-Church stance, and once they are in, they are in and are extremely hard to kick out. Plus they are undervaluing our role in the Faith. Wasn't there some kind of emphasis post-Vatican II on EVERYONE in the Church participating in the roles of "Priest, Prophet, and King?" Properly taken, everyone is responsible for the proper and true dissemination of the Catholic Faith to the world. I just wish the Vatican was considering this more deeply.

If anyone has any crucial information to this effect, please fill me in! I'll update this post for sure.

Pax Tibi Christi, YCRCM.

* I differ from my colleague, in that
1) I consider myself part of the B16 generation, as I didn't think JPII was that great overall and had an active impact. To me he was more intellectual as a pope with his Catechism and Theology of the Body. Also I disapprove of his greater allowance of other cultures and religions pervading Catholic religious Masses and other Vatican things e.g. Assisi I and II. Also I reverted to my faith during the reign of B16 and I prefer people who have a balance of action and intellectual writings when it comes to my Church Saints and political figures.

[EDITED: June 12, 2012, 223PM.]
2) I will not promote actively RealCatholicTV- Now to be named ChurchMilitant.TV (due to the diocese of Detroit's disgust with them.)  The awesome Optimusmastro has filled me in a bit more. It's not Bishop Vingeron (?) that's the culprit, it's the fools running the chancery! Boo laypeople in power, boo!!! While Voris does say what needs to be said at times, overall I've found with my experiences with him online led me to a spirit of anti-Vatican and anti-Clergy, especially any non-traditional bishops and the majority of the Novus Ordo Church (think along the lines of the sheep in Animal Farm: "Vatican II and Novus Ordo bad, EF and pre-vatican II good!" "All  Vatican II clergy bad, all Ef clergy good!") The approach I've had to take with his stuff is caution: Watching what is necessary or intriguing when needed, and avoiding what I know will trigger my other 1/2, so as to keep my spirit in a state of theological Charity. However, obviously this is my personal opinion, and does not necessarily reflect those who have had close contact with Voris, or work under him at ChruchMilitant.TV. Also as a side note, THANK GOD for Archbishop Terrence Prendergast of Ottawa.

Quickpost: SSPX decision Today???

Since the original post is long down the line in history, I'm making a new one for this. Here's what I just found making it's rounds on the blogosphere:

http://rorate-caeli.blogspot.com/2012/06/rome-sspx-important-popes-response-to.html

Vatican Sattelite Canon armed at Econe, Switzerland. Clavis Petrus et Clavis Paulus activated. Launching Papal obliteration beam in 10 ... 9..... 8......

SSPX will you launch the abort codes? Or will it be a great obliterati? Only time will tell.

Let's pray that the TLM/EF Calvary will arrive! I don't know how much longer the Fellowship of the Ring can hold out at Helm's Deep against the orcish (cough Liberal cough) forces  ......

This from Rorate:

[1950 Rome time - Update] "The response of Benedict XVI to the 'Lefebvrists' not to be known before the weekend." "Bp. Fellay will have some days to put his signature on the text"  (SSPX spokesman Fr. AW NUTS! Really!!! C'mon Stop making us wait! I hope to heck this is NOT a repeat of 1988. I'll seriously be on the verge of becoming uncharitable if this is repeated again in history.

Sounds like the SSPX bought more time and the satellite counter is now increased to 30 ..... 29 ..... 28 .... and counting down again. Push the ABORT button Fellay, PLEASE!!!.

Their Side

Communiqué of the General House of the Society of Saint Pius X (June 14, 2011)

On Wednesday, June 13, 2012, Bp. Bernard Fellay, Superior General of the Society of Saint Pius X, joined by the First Assistant General, Father Niklaus Pfluger, was received by Cardinal William Levada, Prefect of the Congregation for the Doctrine of the Faith, who delivered to him the evaluation of his dicastery of the Doctrinal declaration presented by the Fraternity on April 15, 2012, in response to the Doctrinal Preamble submitted by the Congregation for the Doctrine of the Faith on September 14, 2011.

In the course of this meeting, Bp. Fellay listened to the explanations and details presented by Cardinal Levada, to whom he presented the situation of the Society of Saint Pius X and exposed the doctrinal difficulties posed by the Second Vatican Council and the Novus Ordo Missae. The desire for supplementary clarifications could lead to a new phase of discussions.[Emphasis added]

At the end of this long audience of over 2 hours, Bp. Fellay received a project of a document proposing a Personal Prelature, in the case of an eventual canonical recognition of the Society of Saint Pius X. In the course of the meeting, the matter of the situation of the three other bishops of the Society was not discussed.

At the end of this meeting, it was desired that the dialogue will be pursued that will allow the reaching of a solution for the good of the Church and of souls.

The Holy father's Side

Holy See Press Office communiqué

On the afternoon of Wednesday 13 June, Cardinal William Levada, prefect of the Congregation for the Doctrine of the Faith and president of the Pontifical Commission 'Ecclesia Dei', met with Bishop Bernard Fellay, superior general of the Society of St. Pius X who was accompanied by an assistant. Also present at the encounter were Archbishop Luis Ladaria S.J., secretary of the Congregation for the Doctrine of the Faith, and Msgr. Guido Pozzo, secretary of the Pontifical Commission 'Ecclesia Dei'.

The purpose of the meeting was to present the Holy See's evaluation of the text submitted in April by the Society of St. Pius X in response to the Doctrinal Preamble which the Congregation of the Doctrine of the Faith had presented to the Society on 14 September 2011. The subsequent discussion offered an opportunity the provide the appropriate explanations and clarifications. For his part, Bishop Fellay illustrated the current situation of the Society of St. Pius X and promised to make his response known within a reasonable lapse of time.

Also during the meeting, a draft document was submitted proposing a Personal Prelature as the most appropriate instrument for any future canonical recognition of the Society.

As was stated in the communique released on 16 May 2012, the situation of the other three bishops of the Society of St. Pius X will be dealt with separately and singularly.

At the end of the meeting the hope was expressed that this additional opportunity for reflection would also contribute to reaching full communion between the Society of St. Pius X and the Apostolic See.

Just as a fun pick apart exercise. Let's see what each side is saying:

SSPX: After meeting with that guy about my evaluation of their proposal, and withstanding OVER 2 GRUELING HOURS where I came out a hero saying the Novus Ordo church and Vatican II is bull crap, we`re gonna continue plowing through! See how we`re leading the way people for the sake of the Church? Hey so I'm getting that personal prelature after all ... IF I sign with them (of course in a second I could pull a Lefevbre and walk away, screw them saying I'm excommuncated again cause I'll be like Nya Nya Nya Nya Nya!). At the end of this we're feeding the sick Church its well needed medicine!

VATICAN: All parties met in accord with the appropriate Roman Curial councils being represented in this matter. This is the purpose of the meeting, and we are allowing feedback and criticism of that contract they need to sign for canonical recognition. Fellay did his usual worn out "necessity" spiel again about why the heck they want to keep being themselves and will do the usual "churning out every part in excrutiating time" thing SSPX always does to forestall the inevitable. Yeah just like them we gotta do something about the pisspot three ruining the whole process. We're hoping they'll come back (cause secretly, we need them to make our rebellous laity to get back in spiritual shape and darn it to show those hypocrite priests who the heck is boss around here .... ROME!

YCRCM's take: Vatican, stop playing games with the laity's souls here and these stupid politicians and force and ultimatum or do a grand excommunication on the whole society AND their laity too if they don't want to co-operate or stall you further.

SSPX, stop being prideful jerks and sign the damn thing cause you know we need you to kick the pants off of sister pantsuit spiritually, and DARN BE IT!!! WE NEED MORE REINFORCEMENTS FOR THE LATIN MASS!!! STOP HOLDING OUT ON THE GOODS OR THE EF WILL CRASH AND BURN!!!!!! But I guess you truly only care about your own little shaved headed boys and timid little mantilla girls and NOT the majority of us diocesan, average Catholics or the bulk of us TRYING to be trads, but are getting our arses kicked every step of the way going it solo. DAMMIT JUST SIGN IT AND GET THE RECOGNITION, SO THE CHURCH IS FORCED TO LISTEN TO YOUR VOICE. And then, do your trad thing, cause like a slow cancer, you can re-infect the Church and kill of the spirit of Vatican II. And believe me gentlemen, society's attack on religious liberties will continue to increase. It doesn't matter whether you are holed up in your little non-canonicalized chapel and your little tradie communities, the secular law enforcers will eventually come for you and your isolation from the Vatican will not protect you. Ever watch or read Lord of the Rings by Tolkein? If you even allow such a novel to be read by your societal inheritants? Even Mordor and the Orcs eventually found their way to the Shire, forcing the Hobbits to get involved in the war for Middle Earth. Evil doesn't care if you are the "True Church" and you aren't under Rome, or you are back on board the Barque of Peter. The Devil will attack you as "collateral" damage in its assault of Jesus. Worse, who will protect you when you are a band of "outsiders?" With us, you stand a better chance of surviving what's to come. You will, however, have more allies to your causes under us, and there are priests, laity and others, who will accept you and know the institutional church is screwing things up. Heck even a high raking prelate wants his seminary in your hands!!! 3 seminaries sounds mighty good eh? You know, traditional priests are secretly in high demand .... but the production line is pretty low right now and the orders are too many.

Alright. Praying for a quick resolution here. YCRCM.

REALLY COOL UPDATE JUNE 26, 2012 10:56 PM EST
Check this our at Rorate Caeli, the SSPX symapthetic (Extreme uber traddie commenter warning! Proceed with Caution) website with traditional Catholicism news:

http://rorate-caeli.blogspot.com/2012/06/for-record-confidentiality-like-water.html

WHOA!!!! Hold On did I just read this? Yup! Fellay is cleaning house to make way for reconciliation with the Church:

" ... Furthermore, I inform all members of the Chapter that, in virtue of Canon 2331 § 1 and 2 [of the revoked 1917 Code of Canon Law] (nc [Code of Canon Law in force] 1373), the Superior General has deprived Bp. Williamson from the position of capitulary due to his stand calling to rebellion and for continually repeated disobedience. He has also been forbidden to come to Écône for the ordinations ...."

HOLY SCHNIKEES!!!!! I can't believe this. Fellay actually manned up and took control of the situation with that anti-Semite. GOOD FOR HIM!!! SSPX does not need his hatred towards the Jews as dead weight to ruin things further. Plus he was a big old miser too to boot in his posts, and very sede-vacantist. Good for Fellay. Keep those prayers coming guys. Fellay is inching closer to giving us that much needed boost to TLM efforts worldwide.

However there's just one stupid little hurdle left:
" .... On June 13, 2012, Cardinal Levada delivered to our Superior General text from last April, but amended in such a way that it now reintroduces, substantially, the propositions of September 2011. Bp. Fellay immediately informed him that he could not sign this new document, clearly unacceptable. The next [General] Chapter will allow for an appraisal of the complete dossier ...."

Really Guys! Suck in that damn pride of yours! You know that it's obvious that more people know the institutional Church is crumbling without you  and we need your help, it's pretty obvious. But darn it if you keep wanting the moon and sun and stars, you will not get your acceptance!!!! Stop being selfish and full of pride, sign the thing for expediency sake, and then when you are in the club make your demands!

UGH! I wish this political garbage would stop. Really. Vatican and SSPX, you guys are really starting to anger laity about this with your tardiness, of us who care.

Quickpost: Same Vein, Different Poster

Hello everyone.

Here`s something from RENEGADE TRAD, an interesting Traditional Catholic Poster who hails now from Toronto. He`s one of those new found Young Gun trads, the ones who aren't such sticklers and actually contemplate and think about issues with tradition. While I'm a giant shotgun, this guy is a sniper rifle in his postings and commentary. He just recently did a posting about a forum from an extremist trad site, Fisheaters (I do not endorse it!).  Sane vein as my previous rant in the EF ordination post, but on a different part of the EF liturgy. See here, comment, or enjoy, and go spike his stats. YCRCM.

Canadian Newly Ordained Young Buck Goes EF For His First Solemn Mass and a Small Speckled Filled Nutty

Hi all.

Wow, this is AWESOME!!!!! This just gives more credence to the overall shift in attitude in terms of the liturgy and our desired true devotion to the One, Holy, Catholic, Apostolic Church and the non-watered down practice, catechesis, and witness of the Catholic Faith. We young people aren't interested in folk guitars and kumbaya and rainbow vestments darn it! Our newer priests .... aren't either.

Here's an example of a young diocesan priest who chose to celebrate his first Mass in the Extraordinary Form of the Roman Rite/Tridentine Latin Mass/1962 Mass. This is Father Pablo Santa Maria of the Diocese of Vancouver. And here's the link to pictures and a small description from our TCs/TPs friendly comrades over at New Liturgical Movement:

http://www.newliturgicalmovement.org/2012/06/first-ef-of-newly-ordained-priest-in.html

CATECHESIS TIME!!!!:

BTW, those people who came to this priest's first Mass were truly blessed. Why? Because one can gain a plenary (full) indulgence for active participation in the Priest's first Mass after his ordination. In a nutshell with analogy, it's the abolishment of the temporal punishment for one's sins. You can get forgiven and be put back in the state of sanctifying grace post-confession, but think of an indulgence like getting one's charges completely dropped from their criminal record by the courts, instead of that lingering on one's "spiritual" record when they go to heaven.

And guess what? If you know someone who's newly ordained and they are celebrating their first Mass, GO TO IT! You too, whether it be an EF or NO priest, can benefit from it too! That is, providing you participate in this indulgence under the usual qualifying conditions of confession, communion, and praying for the Holy Father (simple: 1x Our Father, 1x Hail Mary, and likely 1x glory be as well) within 8 days of the indulgent action. From the Enchindron of Indulgences (easily found online in PDF or in book form):

43. First Mass of Newly Ordained Priests (Prima Missa neosacerdotum)

A plenary indulgence is granted to a priest on the occasion of the first Mass he celebrates with some solemnity and to the faithful who devoutly assist at the same Mass.

END CATECHESIS

Uh oh .... Fr. Z. rant time ...

The JPII and B16 generations are taking over, and the "Spirit of Vatican II" generations are dying out. It's the "social trend" as it were fellas. My generation is waking up, and if you are unwilling to accept the changes or be "tolerant" as it were, you'll find a lot of unnecessary conflict your way, and worse YOU will be directly responsible for these people's (and your friend's and family's) souls. Worse, when those of your generation die off, will there be lovely St. James on the Little Hill remaining? Likely not, because your liberal heterdoxy and failure to preach the True Gospel of Christ made people walk away from the Church and this will be reflected in your once dwindling, now DEAD, collections of parish income from donations. No bodies, no money, no parish and NO pastorship. Got it memorized?

And hey, before the Catholic, =3 F&G trolls (see Youtube for =3 and RWJ's depiction of the trolls) go crazy with their keyboards at me and calling me an "angry trad," I'm not totally anti-Novus Ordo like some of my confreres fighting it out in spirits of abuse, anger, and hatred in the EF camp. By God I hate it when I hear about Trads chastizing other Trads for not being sticklers in various regards, saying don't go to other EF masses, and shitting on Novus Ordo practices that produce GENUINE articles of the faith. You are entitled to your OPINIONS, but do not "SHIT" on other Catholics.  Same goes for liberal heterodox "c"atholics, lay students and theologians, teachers, priests, and bishops who HATE anything traditionally Catholic and think of it as "archaic" and devoid of Catholic value and joy. For both "traddies" and "Novus Ordo" Catholics, at the very least, tell me why you express X opinion and give me some sources so I can research this what you are saying and can come to a conclusion myself. One guy I know did just that with why he is only EF masses. That's what academics do BTW. They publish in academic journals, list their sources at the end of the document, and peers have the right to perform new experiments to disprove the paper or confirm the prior authors' works, or the peer review process with seek to critically evaluate the work (albeit peer review can be poisoned with bias). BUT DO NOT, I REPEAT, DO NOT, publicly say things heterdox to the principles and tenets of the Catholic Faith or hate the Holy Father. You won't get my sympathy there from either camp.

Now, there are good things and movements and such that can be done within the Novus Ordo culture of the institutional Catholic Church today AS LONG AS They are rooted in the Gospels, the tenants and principles of the Catholic Faith which are outlined in the Catechism of the Catholic Church, and in a spirit of faith and moral obedience to our Holy Father in Rome, with an acceptable tolerance of that which is associated with Traditional Catholicism. Both sides, for example, have practices associated with Eucharistic Adoration, and the general consensus is that parishes/places with this practice have more faithful practicing Catholics, be they Novus Ordo or EF, and those places THRIVE overall in their communal aspects (and likely as a result, more donations in the parish collections.)

So what am I saying? NO HATING ON EACH OTHER FROM BOTH SIDES!! Else we are nothing but a bunch of Saducees and Pharisees, and Christ chastized them both in the Gospels. And Satan LOVESSSSS internal division in the Church. He`s probably had to change his adult diapers many a time as he`s cracking up so hard over this Trad/N.O. stuff and especially the Vatican Leaks of private letters from the Pope's Butler (unwillingly???? Smells like Sodano is being implicated as a power hungry prelate and is involved ....)

Quickpost: Reminder about commenting

Hello All,

Lately, I've been receiving a few comments that I so want to post. However, the people doing so choose to be anonymous. Read my blog rules back in August 2011, but I'll verbally tell you my policy here on commenting.

I do allow Pseudonames (as yours truly is a pseudoname) for your Blogger ID and even pseudonames in the posting. I'll even go as far as to allow your initials in the post with your ID as anonymous, as I do make exception (which I'll make the norm now as of June 5, 2012. Consider this a Motu Proprio LOL! :) )for F.P.

However, I will not, I repeat, will not post comments that are totally anonymous in blogger ID AND/OR in the posting itself. I do this because I cannot tell where your comment is coming from, who you are, or if you are sending it as spam. In one instance, I had a great comment on a post, but because the ID was from a "transgendered dating site" in the Blogger ID, I could not post it, as it potentially could have been spamming or trolling, regardless of the poster's good will and intention. I don't do this to be an ass, I do it to stop trolling and hating, and to maintain some sense of decorum and order here on YCRCM, as I know my postings can be like one of the many "Buckley's medicines" of the Canadian Catholic blogosphere, and I'm sure a prelate and liberal theologian or two if they've stumbled upon this, are either agreeing and keeping quiet, or angry and pissed off at me for doing so and saying explicatives under their breath.

Thank you for patience and your understanding. Pax, YCRCM.

Part II of Canadian Bishop Finally Grows a Sack of Balls: Cardinal Collins of Toronto Speak out against Tyrannical Overlord McGuinty on Bill 13

RED FLAG WARNING!!!! Due to the nature of this posting, there will be no allowances of any yellow flagging according to my blog rules (see August 2011). Anything, mildly inflammatory from anyone will be deleted and I will try to block you from this blog. If you hate what I write so much, use those fadangled Rights and Freedoms in Canada and worldwide to write your own blogpost on your own blog. Or just walk away.

And back to our deal with the Bishop. Finally, in Canada, a Canadian bishop decided to grow a sack of balls and speak up on a major morality/sexual/ethics/political related issue. Nowhere in the history of the CCCB/Canadian Catholic Church since Vatican II, and my young life under 35 years of age have I witnessed such a spectacle.

Remember that nerdy looking guy with the glasses and gray hair who looked like an aged Gilbert Lowe from Revenge of the Nerds? Yeah, that one who got the red hat from our Holy Papa Benedict the XVI? Yes. That guy.

Cardinal Thomas Collins of the archdiocese of Toronto, held a press conference that was covered by a number of Toronto/Ontario major news outlets and discussed Bill 13. Unfortunately, there is no archived footage currently online on the outlets. Hopefully the diocesan website for Toronto will post up a video either on their main .com site, or their YouTube channel. Regardless, Collins has taken a stance on this issue and made a bold move doing the press conference in the public media, knowing full well this could bite him in the butt from those he works with, and also the government. In fact, he's being attacked left, right and center for doing do. Here's some examples from weblinks from the media:
http://www.thestar.com/news/canada/politics/article/1202019--cohn-the-catholic-church-versus-the-catholic-premier --> The liberal rag and public media engine for liberals everywhere in Toronto/Ontario and the Liberal Party (unoficially, but rarely do they criticize the party in this paper).
http://ncronline.org/blogs/ncr-today/canadian-cardinal-talks-gay-straight-alliances-schools --> From a liberal catholic rag that is of theologically poor quality, espousing the "Jesus loves everybody" garbage that makes today's Church sermons suck and the "Let's be tolerant and inclusive to make the Church more welcoming and bring people back" arguments."
http://torontounderground.wordpress.com/2012/05/31/is-torontos-catholic-cardinal-collins-promoting-hate-with-his-gsa-stance/ --> Some Toronto left-wing socialist site. This is just another example of the vitrol and hate thrown our way at the Catholic church. Their latest front page article has another one of those "creepy B16" pics commonly shown to paint our Holy father in an evil light with the usual intolerance arguments by our enemies.

So what was the crux of what Cardinal Collins said and what's the commentary from the media? First, THIS: A statement from Him as part of the Assembly of Catholic Bishops of Ontario on the issue:

I`m going to try and pick the meatiest parts of the statement in order to show you how he`s decided to sacrifice his comfort and prestige and may be on his way to both the Papacy, and maybe, even martyrdom if Overlord McGuinty finds a way to legally enact a 1984 scenario.

Let`s start with this:
``.... This may not always happen in a Catholic school, for we are all sinners, but we earnestly try to live up to this standard. We have a rich array of spiritual resources, and methods developed
out of our faith tradition, which not only fight bullying, but shape a school environment that is welcoming to all. Our schools also provide competent and compassionate personal support for
individuals. We also consistently have sought, and continue to seek, to work together cooperatively with the Ministry of Education to assure that Catholic schools meet and exceed all
government standards ....``

Here`s what he`s saying. Some of his detractors will say ``your schools are hypocritical and don`t teach the Gospel`` as he alluded to prior to this paragraph. HE OPENLY ADMITS that our schools have failed many a time in this regard, from the teachers to the students. This is a ``mea culpa on behalf of the liberal, watered-down catechized people if you will. He also is saying that the schools have their own, genuinely Catholic (and possible moral law abiding) methods for dealing with bullying and welcoming others. Also, the Catholic School system, aside from the religious ed courses unique to it, DO NOT teach outside of the government mandated curriculum (what teachers do in individual classes, is another story). In other words, they teach according to code. Could they be better, like Catholic private schools in their religious education? Absolutely! Remember though, the government cares only about the non-religious issues. In other words, "Our Catholic school systems render to Caesar the things that are due to Caesar, and to God that things that are God's" (cf. Mark 12:17). Also as a side note, this paragraph could contain proof that one of the four conditions are agreed upon for a just war under the Just War Theory: Consistent negotiations or means of dealing with the enemy are ineffective and have failed.

".... A "Gay-Straight Alliance" is a particular method of addressing one form of bullying, and providing personal support.  The GSA model was developed in the United States in the 1980'sBecause this model is so closely related to a movement with particular views concerning the human person and the issues of life, people who disagree with those views are understandably concerned that the model can serve as a means not only to address bullying, but to promote the views with which they disagree. Those who share those views will no doubt wish to use the GSA methodology. They are certainly free to do so...."

Whoa! I can`t believe this. This is old news? Collins! Why the heck aren't you writing a book or something! I can't believe GSAs have been around for a long time that I feel guilty I didn't know the history. Really this is something that should be researched. As for the bolded paragraph ... that's right Collins. It is all tied together: Contraception, Abortion, Homosexual relations, Co-habitation .... It all points back to the value of the human person and the issue of life, that all life begins at conception and the person is given the soul at it. You really think when someone is pregnant they will birth anything but a human being? Of course those anti-life/anti-human views are simply self-serving, pointing to a person's selfish desire to deny life for their own wants.

Finally from his statement, I highlight this last question of a series of questions he asks to show that the government isn't thinking about one's best interests:

5. Apart from whatever one thinks of the idea of GSAs, in any particular school is a GSA the most effective method to help students being targeted by bullies? Who makes that decision in a
local school? Is it those adults who are entrusted with responsibility for the local school community and all of its members? The new policy says that they do not. Is that wise?

Here we have the most simplistic argument right here: Is this "anti-bullying policy" going to stop bullying? Well maybe for the homosexual kids, but what about the ones with mental disorders? The ones with physical handicaps? What about little Jimmy just cause he is actually a "nice guy" and the other boys are mean jock types? Or what about little Suzy who like Jason the cool guy and he likes her back, but because Lilette and her band of gossip-jackals who are dressing in skimpy shorts and crop-tops at the ages of 12, is jealous, she start malicious cyber-bullying online and gossiping with her friends at school, lowering the self-esteem of poor Suzy and possibly, Suzy ends up killing herself? Worse, it sounds like the adults will have NO say in this matter. You don't want a GSA in schools or want to promote different type of club that can more effectively manage a kid with possible/ID'd same sex attraction in a Catholic way? TOO BAD!!! What overlord McGuinty and his general in command, Broten say, goes. Worse, if a kid actually, practically, lives out their faith and actually knows his/her catechism 2357-2359, will a kid have to violate their consciece and faith to evade the "homosexual" or "tolerance" police from suspending or expelling him/her, even their own teacher??? Will the teacher use this as an excuse to lower their grades and due to this policy the teacher gets away with it? While we're at it, what about ADULT BULLYING via the abuse of power as the "tolerant" teacher? This has a lot of far reaching implications.

Now, what about other media coverage? here's some links:
http://www.torontosun.com/videos/1660439848001
http://www.torontosun.com/2012/05/29/fight-against-gay-straight-alliances-just-warming-up

http://www.torontosun.com/2012/05/31/liberal-hypocrisy-on-catholic-schools

While there's a lot of 2ndary media coverage out there now that Pandora's box is open, I'll only highlight certain things:
- in the National post article, it lists this correctly about our Catechism: "The Catechism of the Catholic Church says homosexual behaviour is “intrinsically disordered” and “under no circumstance can it be approved.” However, the Catechism also teaches that homosexuals “must be accepted with respect, compassion, and sensitivity. Every sign of unjust discrimination in their regard should be avoided.” YES! Finally a mainstream media source actually gets it right and quotes/summarizes properly the Catechism's teaching. Combined with the sensitivity sentence it correctly quotes from paragraph 2357-2358. In a nutshell "love the sinner, hate the sin." Thank you National Post for finally doing this right!

- The Post also cites that the Toronto DISTRICT (Public) School board examined in a survey what the most common reason for bullying is. While the pro-gay group EGALE stated 64% of gays have been subject to bullying, the TDSB looked at bullying across the board and found: "...The most cited reason was “body image” (38% in Grades 7 to 8; 27% in Grades 9 to 12), followed by grades or marks (17% and 12% respectively), and 7% in all grades noted language as a cause. The next three categories at 5% or lower were gender, religion and income. The issue of gay bullying did not register in the study.

- The CR story about the gay kid who committed suicide has two important highlights I must comment on: 1) The father in the story would rather see the bill protect the rights of all students, even as far as a merger of 13 and 14 (I disagree with this fully. Just pass the broad-spectrum bill 14). (2) The gay kid did a one up by starting a "rainbow club." Despite the name, this club was for all types of students affected by bullying. Even this openly gay kid, knew what the heck to do and not to close off and clique. Bullying is crap, regardless of whose doing it and who's targeted. He got it, McTyrant and Broten do not. Isn't it ironic that the gay kid knows what's better in this issue than the politicians?

- Blizzard's latest posting is quite poignant with her message. Here's the juicy and important points with my Fr. Z tinted comments:
> "Yep, our fearless leader is taking on the mantle not just of secular leader of the people of this province, but also as our moral, religious and spiritual authority" "
[Exactly! He wants to tell us what to think, do, and say. It's the first step towards a real 1984 scenario here. By 1984 I'm referring to George Orwell's titled book. Excellent read, get it. My older, borrowed school library copy at the time, even had the eye in the triangle on it. Creepy no?]
> "And it’s pure hypocrisy. The premier’s four children went to Catholic school. His wife, Terri, teaches in a Catholic school. Education Minister Laurel Broten’s sons also go to Catholic school."
[ Exactly! What a stupid irony. You're screwing over the system you have put your kids in. If you really value public education McGuinty and Broteh, and you KNOW that what you are doing goes against the system, why the heck put your kids and work in the system?]
"The Catholic church isn’t a buffet. You don’t pick and choose which values you want and which you don’t. You either buy into the whole bundle — or you pull a Martin Luther and start your own religion."
[ HOLY BAT FARTS BATMAN!!!! Here's a secular media reporter who has just launched the bomb. 200% Correct! As a Catholic, when it comes to specific doctrines and dogmas, as well as central core teachings of the faith, one cannot be a Catholic and pick and choose what to believe. The same goes for those in charge of running the system. I personally think it's sad that a secular journalist gets the picture when so many liberal clergy, theologians, and laity don't. They purposely choose to ignore how the Catholic Church works. If it isn't a discipline or discussable topic, you can't reject it publicly (private discussion behind close doors, is another story). Really this is a bloody embarrassment on us. I think there's even a Ghandi quote about the average Catholic's hypocrisy too, and that I think made it into the Grade 11 World Religions textbook now used in the diocese of Toronto, the one with the Canadian Catholic perspective. And BTW, those other sects and religions did just that. They didn't like what Mean Old Rome was giving, they started their own sect of Christianity or religion]
"The Catholic system does what the public system cannot. It teaches morals and values and ethics to children. It’s able to enforce a stricter code of discipline, because it can expel students to the public system."
[ This is another good reason why people in Ontario, Canada, even if you send your kids to public school, or aren't Catholic, you should fight against the government on this. Save the union and trustee crap, This school system strives to do more than teach ABCs. People PURPOSELY put their kids in this system for these reasons. ALSO, the system is widely known for giving a kid overall a better education than its public counterparts.]
"So put up or shut up, Premier. You won the 2007 election squawking about religious schools being a horrific form of “segregation and sequestration.” So, either leave the Catholic schools alone. Or pull their funding and go with one public school system. And everyone, please. Simmer down and do us all a favour. It you don’t subscribe to Catholic beliefs, don’t put your kids in Catholic schools and don’t have family members teach in them."
[ This is one of the best closers of an editorial, ever. And this should also apply to everyone. either go do your own secular public thing and leave us alone, or if you are with us, "tolerate" the system or espouse its wholeness. It's works both ways you know. Tolerance is not unilateral.]

Now, to end off this post, I'd like to quote a few paragraphs concerning this issue of freedom of moral conscience and man, from the 1993 JPII encyclical Veritatis Splendor. These paragraphs I think are a good summary of the Church's wisdom on this matter at hand:

42. 42. Patterned on God's freedom, man's freedom is not negated by his obedience to the divine law; indeed, only through this obedience does it abide in the truth and conform to human dignity. This is clearly stated by the Council: "Human dignity requires man to act through conscious and free choice, as motivated and prompted personally from within, and not through blind internal impulse or merely external pressure. Man achieves such dignity when he frees himself from all subservience to his feelings, and in a free choice of the good, pursues his own end by effectively and assiduously marshalling the appropriate means" [The footnote for this is, believe it or not, a Vatican II document, Gaudium et Spes, paragraph 17.].
[ So Man cannot do this when an external force, such as one's social circle or his/her own government try to impose on their consceince and free will through the subversion of the civil law, which is infringing on the Natural Law that governs all humanity.]

For those who criticize the Church as a morality enforcer, as some of its critics say and will cheer McTyrant in opening the Catholic schools to be more "accepting," here's what JPII says on that: 95. ".... The Church, one hears, is lacking in understanding and compassion. But the Church's motherhood can never in fact be separated from her teaching mission, which she must always carry out as the faithful Bride of Christ, who is the Truth in person. "As Teacher, she never tires of proclaiming the moral norm .... The Church is in no way the author or the arbiter of this norm. In obedience to the truth which is Christ, whose image is reflected in the nature and dignity of the human person, the Church interprets the moral norm and proposes it to all people of good will, without concealing its demands of radicalness and perfection" [The key word is proposed. Our Holy Mother Church is not the arbiter, or in other words the enforcer of morality and rules on people. It won't lie in what it demands and you can even access the Catechism online at www.vatican.va,. Ironically McGuinty's actions support this paragraph and makes him look like the one who's enforcing things, not the Church.]

Finally, one last paragraph with no commentary from V.S. that I think pretty much sums up what Bill 13 will result in or become one of the first major steps toward :

"101. In the political sphere, it must be noted that truthfulness in the relations between those governing and those governed, openness in public administration, impartiality in the service of the body politic, respect for the rights of political adversaries, safeguarding the rights of the accused against summary trials and convictions, the just and honest use of public funds, the rejection of equivocal or illicit means in order to gain, preserve or increase power at any cost — all these are principles which are primarily rooted in, and in fact derive their singular urgency from, the transcendent value of the person and the objective moral demands of the functioning of States.160 When these principles are not observed, the very basis of political coexistence is weakened and the life of society itself is gradually jeopardized, threatened and doomed to decay (cf. Ps 14:3-4; Rev 18:2-3, 9-24). Today, when many countries have seen the fall of ideologies which bound politics to a totalitarian conception of the world — Marxism being the foremost of these — there is no less grave a danger that the fundamental rights of the human person will be denied and that the religious yearnings which arise in the heart of every human being will be absorbed once again into politics. This is the risk of an alliance between democracy and ethical relativism, which would remove any sure moral reference point from political and social life, and on a deeper level make the acknowledgement of truth impossible. Indeed, "if there is no ultimate truth to guide and direct political activity, then ideas and convictions can easily be manipulated for reasons of power. As history demonstrates, a democracy without values easily turns into open or thinly disguised totalitarianism"

Everyone, please add Cardinal Collins to you prayers. I'm sure that people are now going to rally really hard against him for what he did, both in the public sphere of society, and even in his chancery offices and dioceses. He will not have it easy from this point on, even though he was not stern and aggressive in his message. That does not matter to liberals or the immoral, even being polite counts as an affront to their selfish desires, even if they don the clerical collar or the pointy hat. Whenever someone actually proclaims the Gospel and the Good News or the true Catholic faith in this day and age, they will be "crucified" for it. I'm sure this will only intensify in future, even after bill 13 passes and 14 is likely rejected. Let's also pray if this man lives on, that perhaps he might one day lead the church as our next Holy father as a viable candidate for the Papacy.

IMPORTANT UPDATE, June 5, 2012

Bad news everyone. I got this from a friend in my personal e-mail:

"Regrettably, Bill 13 passed today with the support of the majority of the Liberal and NDP Members of Parliament behind it.  The PC MPPS unanimously voted against it. The final vote was 65 in favor, 36 against."

Well, I am honestly not surprised. With only 1/3 of the house on our side, and with the recent chummying up of Horvath and McGuinty on the budget that was passed a month or so ago, as well as shared liberal and anti-Catholic ideologies (and an equal lust for power and wealth with no consideration for their constituents), I knew that the NDP and Lie-berals of Ontario would vote in favour. Also, with the passing of two rounds in the legislature, before many different non-Catholic and Catholic protest groups sprung into action with petitions and demonstrations, I pretty much predicted this bill was sunk. You have to cut them off before they go through even one round in parliament to make a difference.

The Diocese has made a brief press statement on the matter which can be linked here: http://www.archtoronto.org/pdf/statementbill13june512.pdf

However, because it's short, I'm pasting this in its entirety here:

"June 5, 2012
Statement from the Assembly of Catholic Bishops of Ontario
re: Accepting Schools Act (Bill 13)

Today the Ontario Legislature has passed Bill 13. The Assembly of Catholic Bishops of Ontario has expressed serious concerns regarding certain aspects of this legislation, as have numerous other individual citizens and groups.

Recognizing that the Accepting Schools Act is now the law, Catholic partners will seek, as we
have always done, in a way that is in accord with our faith, to foster safe and welcoming school
communities. Bullying, in any form, is unacceptable. At the core of our Catholic Christian
beliefs is the command to welcome every person with love and respect.

Thomas Cardinal Collins
Archbishop of Toronto
President, Assembly of Catholic Bishops of Ontario"

While I was initially enamoured that Collins grew a set of balls, and my ideas in that post will not change, this statement is sadly weak and pathetic, and to me smells of cow-towing to the government. At least it's consistent with his major press release last week in terms of the language. However, this does not give me any new or growing confidence in Collins on this matter. Rather, it displays a lack of action and we'll just "do what we've always done. I think that what's really needed is an affirming statement that we'll keep on fighting for the Church, even so far as to suggest canonical penalties for Broten and McGuinty, especially excommunication for McGuinty He's got a public, sinful rap-sheet a mile wide in his public dissent from the faith as a politician, that I'm sure even a 1/2 cursory look would be ground for excommunication. I'll tell you that if Collins does that, He'll be the first bishop since Vatican II in North America, possibly worldwide, to formally excommunicate a major government figure, and may even earn him the Papal Tiara out of admiration by his fellow Cardinals.

Please Cardinal Collins, if you see this post, or your secretaries or whomever brings this to your attention, please continue fighting and please consider using this heavy handed weapon for the Faith. Please let the Cardinal Virtues of Prudence, Justice, and Fortitude reign mighty! All Catholics in the present in your diocese, and those to be born in future, need your leadership NOW, or the Faith will continue to die out. We few committed and practising laity cannot fight this political, cultural, and  spiritual war alone. Don't abandon your troops. I'll be praying for you, Your Eminence.

However, there is one silver lining that might be possible. The 6 O'clock news said something along the lines that while this is assent and law, Catholic schools do not have to be forced to do exactly as the government mandates, something about constitutional rights and such. Well there are rights federally, so perhaps between those long held constitutional rights, and those of the Charter (ironically which might be able to be used for good in this instance) may allow Catholic schools to say "whatever" and continue to hold whatever Catholic-centred single sex attraction clubs, or create ones with a broader focus and incorporates those with SSA in a Catholic manner. It was a 15 second blurb, so I didn't get all of the statement.

However after a view of Toronto's only moderately conservative newspaper, http://www.torontosun.com/2012/06/05/ontario-mpps-pass-anti-bullying-bill
I found out the weapon the schools can use: ".... Campaign Life Coalition, which has rejected the entire Bill 13, claiming it is the government’s backdoor attempt to implement its controversial sex education curriculum, called on all Catholic ratepayers to encourage their school boards to invoke Section 93 which provides constitutional protection for their religious beliefs in education ...."

Regardless, all groups who speak for the rights of parents and Catholic education should continue to fight.

However, if this continues not only in Ontario but in other provinces (e.g. Alberta's government apparently is attacking home-schoolers as well), then the Catholic schools may have to do one of two things or the families involved:

1) Sever financial ties with the government, close down a number of facilities, pour whatever remaining money exists into the leftover ones, and make Catholic education totally private, like other monotheistic religious schools if they plan to KEEP the existing framework of the catholic school boards in the provinces (but fire those damn trustees and unions. Most don't give two rat's behinds about the faith.)

OR

2a) Families might have to start banding together and homeschooling their kids or create homeschools by hiring teachers privately to instruct their kids in groups and/or send their kids to the few already existing Catholic Private boarding and day schools as well as create new ones. This is possible albeit with great financial and social sacrifices, but can be highly rewarding. I know a family personally that has accomplished this, and the kids are quite mature and way beyond their years. Conversing with the oldest kid whose almost a teen is like talking to a miniature adult! Now, If the government goes after their rights like in other provinces, then

2b) We will have to get our religious education in secret, or perhaps operate like Jewish kids do prior to their bar/bat mitzvahs: Normal day hours learning government mandated school stuff, and then privately off campus from 4-6, get parish/private religious education of the best kind. And if Catholicism becomes illegal to be taught anywhere ..... well, that's a really bad scenario but I won't go into crazy land/chastisement stuff right now.

Everyone, all I can say is continue to support your groups or join new ones, continue to invest in orthodox Catholic Novus Ordo AND extraordinary form initiatives and parishes, please get involved with your child's schools, and please pray intently and furiously. The Devil is at large and the wolves are circling the best of us, even our Holy Father.
